October 2023 - Cherry Hill, NJ – FACTORx, is pleased to announce that their abstract, Health Disparities in the Care of Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Focus on Preventive Care and the Patient Perspective, will be presented during the American College of Gastroenterology’s 2023 annual meeting in Vancouver.
Goal/Aim: Ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD) are chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) with unclear etiologies. Studies have shown that geographical location and racial differences can affect the diagnosis and reported prevalence of these conditions. The purpose of this patient survey was to assess the disparities in care between White patients and Black patients in the US. The results of the survey were used to inform a panel discussion between IBD patients and IBD experts to raise awareness of racial and ethnic disparities in diagnosis and care management, and to discuss potential solutions that will provide better outcomes for IBD patients.
Outcome: Approximately 2000 patients accessed the survey email. The survey respondent rate was nearly 25%, with data from 455 patients who completed the survey included in this analysis. The mean age of survey respondents was 53 years (range 18-85 years). Eighty-nine percent were female. Of those completing the survey 415 (91.2%) were White and 40 (8.8%) were Black. These findings identified opportunities to improve patient-provider communications and outcomes among Black patients with IBD. Opportunities to overcome disparities for Black patients with IBD include improving communication, shared decision-making, providing patient-friendly/accessible resources, and referral of patients to supplemental resources as needed.

November 2022 - Cherry Hill, NJ – FACTORx, is pleased to announce that their abstract Is Similar the Same? How We Incorporated Feedback from 250 Patients into a CME Activity on Biosimilars will be presented during the American College of Rheumatology’s 2022 annual meeting in Philadelphia, PA.
Steve Bender, FACTORx President, presented the abstract Is Similar the Same? How We Incorporated Feedback from 250 Patients into a CME Activity on Saturday, November 12 with full poster and audio recording available through the virtual conference. The abstract demonstrates how we collected feedback from patients to assess their baseline knowledge, understanding and concerns around biosimilars and used those findings as the foundation for a CME certified activity to help make future clinician/patient conversations more effective.
FACTORx will use these findings to fine tune the development of future educational interventions around biosimilar use in inflammatory conditions.
March, 2022 - Cherry Hill, NJ – FACTORx is pleased to announce that their abstract Using Shared Decision-making Communication Strategies to Improve Outcomes for Patients with Atopic Dermatitis: Results of a National Scope Continuing Medical Education Initiative will be presented during the American Academy of Dermatology’s 2022 annual meeting in Boston, MA.
Steve Bender, FACTORx President, presented the abstract Using Shared Decision-making Communication Strategies to Improve Outcomes for Patients with Atopic Dermatitis: Results of a National Scope Continuing Medical Education Initiatives on Saturday, March 26, 2022. The abstract demonstrates how we used real patients for the development and presentation of the content associated with nine different certified CME activities. Innovation in distribution methods was also presented as this initiative utilized three different online distribution channels to reach more than one million healthcare providers across the United States to ensure reach to the maximum number of clinicians.
Through this innovative distribution strategy, the educational planners and supporters have unique information about which distribution channel is most effective in reaching learners in this disease state and which distribution channel is most cost effective in reaching treaters of this disease. FACTORx will use these findings to fine tune their recommended distribution channel for in the atopic dermatitis category.

April, 2020 - Cherry Hill, NJ – FACTORx, is pleased to announce that their abstract Longitudinal Analysis of Employer Health Data of 975 Confirmed Endometriosis Patients will be presented during the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists 2020 annual congress in Seattle, WA.
Steve Bender, President presented the abstract Longitudinal Analysis of Employer Health Data of 975 Confirmed Endometriosis Patients with full poster and audio recording available through the virtual conference. The abstract demonstrates how we examined a national commercial claims and encounter database to develop a greater understanding of endometriosis patients’ clinical characteristics, provider characteristics, and costs. Person-specific (blinded) clinical utilization, expenditures, and enrollment were examined. There were 975 patients with a confirmed endometriosis diagnosis (e.g., laparoscopy, hysterectomy, oophorectomy). Data from 5 years prior to confirmed diagnosis and 1-year after were included.
This analysis provides insight into patient clinical needs leading up to and following confirmed diagnosis of endometriosis. Understanding these characteristics may lead to more efficient healthcare utilization and lower costs.
